“Singing in the dark times”
This series was born from Bertolt Brecht’s quote:
“In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will also be singing
About the dark times.”
It’s based on subjective and intuitive view of a person going through this darks times of post-truth, COVID and wars.
In previous projects, the author worked with the social and political landscape of Russia, but after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he had to leave the country urgently. This series is a kind of escapism, the author’s escape into aestheticization. An attempt to hide from feelings of helplessness, guilt, emigration and the impossibility of returning home.
